Peringara Panchayat

A Panchayat is a body of elected representatives of the people to administer the affairs of the Panchayat Raj institutions. In the case of a Gram Panchayat, it is the main body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and carries out the day-to-day administration. The main components of a Panchayat are: President: He is the head of the Panchayat. He presides over the meetings and supervises the overall activities of the Panchayat. Vice President: He assumes the responsibilities in the absence of the President. Ward Members: Representatives elected from each ward of the Panchayat. Standing Committees: These are sub-committees formed to facilitate decision-making, such as finance, development, welfare, health, education etc.

Peringara Grama Panchayat – IntroductionPeringara Grama Panchayat is situated in Pulikeezhu Block of Thiruvalla Taluk in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. Spread across the Peringara and Kavumbhagam villages, the Panchayat covers an area of 16.5 square kilometres and consists of 16 wards.The Panchayat is bordered by Thiruvalla Municipality on the east, Muttar Village on the west, Nedumbram Village on the south, and Payippad Panchayat on the north.The Village Union was formed in 1948 by integrating the revenue areas of Peringara, Karaykkal, Nedumbram, Kavumbhagam, Naduvilemuri, and Kuzhivelippuram. Peringara Grama Panchayat was officially constituted in 1953.The Panchayat is located approximately 5 kilometres west of Thiruvalla town. The eastern part of the Panchayat mainly consists of elevated plains, while the southern region is largely made up of low-lying paddy fields situated below sea level.
